The Shouhang Dunhuang 100 MW molten salt solar power tower plant is the first 100 MW-scale commercial demonstration project in China. The plant started to break ground in October 2016, was completed and connected to the grid for power generation in December 2018, and achieved full-load operation in June 2019. This paper comprehensively introduces the development, design, and construction process of the project as well as its operation and maintenance over the past five years, and shares experiences and lessons learned from the project.
